All the colours of the rainbow.

I’d like to introduce you to my friend Maxx.

We’ve known each other for years, and I love Maxx’s artwork. If you met them and tried to imagine what their artwork looked like, I suspect you’d be in for a surprise.

Their work is filled with every colour of the rainbow, along with curiosity, delight and joy. Some pieces make me stop and smile, while others make me stop and spend a little bit more time with them.

One of the things I’ve always enjoyed about Maxx is the delight they take in their own work. Every now and then they’ll send me a new painting and say, “Can you believe I did that?” It makes me smile every time.

I think we all know people like that. Those who never lose their sense of wonder, who still get excited about a new idea, a happy accident or a fun discovery.

So many times we think what we see on the surface tells us everything there is to know about a person. And then they surprise us. Sometimes it’s their kindness, their sense of humour, or maybe it’s something they create.

It’s one of my favourite reminders that there’s always more to discover.

And then there’s Miss Marmalade. Really… what’s not to love?
